Key Strategies to Help Avoid Weight Gain over the Holidays

Are you one of the average Americans that experiences a holiday weight gain of 7 pounds between the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, and then goes on to attempt to lose as much of the excess as possible over the next several weeks? Usually, the weight is not all lost and then the cycle is repeated the next year and so on until a significant overall weight gain has occurred. It is certainly better during the holidays to not put the weight on in the first place, rather than fight an uphill battle to repair damage done during such a short period of time year after year.

It is absolutely possible to avoid weight gain during the holidays, but it definitely takes a focused approach and some discipline. This includes both holiday exercise and food intake plans, and the need for exercise during the holidays is critical to keeping the weight off. Here are some basic strategies to keeping excess weight off the body during those festive holiday months.

Let's combine some initial ideas here into some food intake strategies that can help you feel full and avoid the temptation to overeat. They include, getting plenty of water intake and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Water is the most important nutrient in the body, and being well hydrated year round is certainly important, as the body burns more fat when it is well hydrated. Water also helps keep the stomach felling full and naturally suppresses the appetite as a result. Cold water requires the body to warm it up, which naturally raises the metabolism slightly.

The same benefits apply to taking in a lot of fruits and veggies, which usually are a part of the party scene on a tray somewhere along with dips and a lot of other tempting finger foods nearby. Fruits and veggies have a lot of fiber and are naturally low in calories, especially vegetables, so the feeling of being full is so effective at curbing the appetite away from the really potentially damaging foods that can easily be overeaten if care is not taken.

The next very important thing that is a strategy is to make sure that you eat 5 small meals a day during the holidays. This keep you from going to a party starving and eaeting far too much of rich foods until you are full. If less than 5 small meals a day are eaten, the metabolism tends to slow, and the appetite once you get to a party tends to be at its highest. This is a recipe for an overeating disaster. Low metabolism from skipping meals plus overeating rich foods because you are hungry from not eating equals a lot of weight gain. If you eat frequently during the day, your appetite will be lower and easier to control and your metabolism will be at its highest, the perfect solution for not gaining weight. This also allows you to feel more satisfied on only one dessert serving, instead of the huge variety that usually populate the trays of holiday parties and tables everywhere.

Alcohol consumption is a huge potential contributor to weight gain because of the large number of calories present in alcoholic drinks. These calories are stored immediately as fat and need to be burned off later by the body, so it is vital to drink alcohol in moderation.

And finally, the exercise component: getting regular cardio and strength training in provides the benefit it always has: keeping our metabolism active and burning fat like a well oiled machine.

All these things add up to keeping your body at its leanest during the holidays, and are strategies that would be effective no matter the fitness level or age. Have fun and stay lean this holiday season.

Treat Yourself, But Don't Overdo It

Whether you're at the family barbecue, out with friends, or having dinner with colleagues, a time will come when temptation to cheat on your nutrition plan will present itself, and many will give in. I have this conversation with my clients frequently, and since the decision to indulge a little has already been made, I try to give tips for making better choices and still feel like you are treating yourself.

Soda or iced tea, or juice iced tea is regarded as the better choice simply due to the high levels of sugar and the carbonation in soda. Iced tea can certainly have sugar but if you have unsweetened, you can at least regulate how much. An 8oz glass of fruit juice is about 120 cal, 29 carbs and 26 grams of sugar, hardly considered a great alternative. All are bad for your teeth, and if you use lemon in your tea, the acidity can lead to cavities as sugar does in soda. One other note regarding soda, have you ever seen how easily soda takes corrosion off your car battery? Honestly I would choose water.

Alcohol light beer on average carries about 27% less calories than regular beer, with Michelob Ultra and Becks Premiere leading the way at less than 100 calories and 4 carbs. Red and white wine, on a list of over 100 averaged between 80-200 calories per glass. If you love a good mixed drink, keep this in mind if you're trying to watch your weight. A 12oz Margarita is around 680 cal, Pina Colada (650 cal), rum & coke (10oz, 356 cal). Of course the calories really add up when we add appetizers and have a few rounds. A couple drinks and a plate of potato skins may add up to your entire daily calorie allowance!

Eating out. Hmmm, way too many choices to be made here. But here are a few ideas for when you're out to dinner. Choose grilled when you can and ask for your meat to be prepared without oil or butter. Try losing the bun of your burger. And use mustard instead of mayo or special sauce. Mustard can add virtually no calories to your meal. Order salad dressing on the side, shy away from thick creamy dressings. Have ½ your meal wrapped to go before you're served. Choose a side of veggies rather than fries.

Don't forget dessert. This being my favorite category of food, sometimes it's hard avoiding overindulgence and still feel like I'm having a treat. So the only suggestion I will make in regards to dessert is choose whatever you like, but have a small portion. A few bites to satisfy our craving shouldn't hurt, overindulgence will. Maybe share that slice of pie with a friend.

Making the choice to eat healthier doesn't have to feel like you are being squeezed with restriction. A quality nutrition plan can include a day to relax and eat what you want. Sometimes, like on our cheat day, we can make healthy choices and still feel like we are treating ourselves.

How to Transition to a Healthier Lifestyle: Common Obstacles and Tips on Overcoming Them

Making a lifestyle change in your nutrition (I hate the word "DIET") can be overwhelming at first. The prospect of making this type of change in your eating habits can seem more difficult if you are a bit of a social butterfly. Never fear! Below are just a few "arguments" I've heard people make about why they find it difficult to stick with their decision to maintain a healthier eating lifestyle. Do you see yourself in one of these examples? Check out my response and some suggestions on how you might choose to overcome these obstacles.

"There weren't any healthy choices available": Dining out can be quite tricky, but it's not impossible! Most restaurants are starting to offer healthy choice menus. But if you are unfortunate enough to land somewhere that doesn't offer these choices, take a close look at the menu and "make" a healthy meal! Do you see grilled chicken or fish anywhere on the menu? What about veggies? Don't be afraid to make up your own meal and ask for substitutions. Most restaurants are more than willing to make their customer happy with these sorts of adjustments. You've just got to ask.

"I don't have time to prepare meals": Our whole society is seems to be in a time management crisis. I know it's difficult. But, where there is a will, there is a way! One method that many healthy eaters have adopted has been to cook in bulk. For example, I cook several meals on Sundays and Wednesdays. I pack up appropriate portions into individual containers and put them in the fridge/freezer. Then when I leave the house in the morning, I just grab a few for each of my meals that day. If you have the luxury of cooking dinner every night, try cooking an extra portion or two for the next day's meals. Makes packing healthy choices a snap!

"I've GOT to have (insert unhealthy addictive food choice here... ie. Chocolate, white bread, etc...)": I've got a question for you... do you NEED it or WANT it. If you need it, you have what is called an addiction. Don't be embarrassed... we all have them. I would suggest starting to wean yourself off whatever it is that you are addicted to. If it doesn't fit into a healthy meal plan, it probably isn't good for you anyway. If it is just something you WANT.... cut it out! You can easily incorporate moderation into any healthy eating plan.

Good recommendations for weight loss aid: Hoodia Bites for appetite control

"The peer pressure got to me... I gave in": Friends and family can be our biggest supporters and our worst saboteurs. They don't mean to sabotage you. More often that not, they just don't understand. Be strong! You can do it! Explain that what they want you to eat/drink isn't in line with your new lifestyle... "Thank you... but NO THANK YOU!" If they continue to push, just realize that they might be a little jealous that they don't have the will power and discipline to do what you're committed to. Take it as a compliment and show em' how it's done!

I've heard many more "reasons" (excuses) than the ones above. But these are the most common. The bottom line is, don't let "reasons" sabotage you. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE. You've just got to decide you are going to do it and make a plan to make it happen!

Never Gain a Pound - Learn to Eat What Ever You Want

"I EAT ALL DAY LONG AND NEVER GAIN A POUND." Why It Is Important to Eat Five Meals a Day

How would you like to become that skinny person who says “I eat all day long and never gain a pound.”?

It’s true that for some people, that way of life is so natural that they never even realized that they were doing anything right. We ask them their secrets and ultimately we chalk it up to the mystery of a “great metabolism,” and wish that we had one too.

It’s not a mystery.

The truth is that anyone can maximize their metabolism not just personal trainers if they just learn to eat like a skinny person. We’re not talking about a lifelong sentence of salads and carrot sticks. We’re talking about eating little meals all day long.

From a health standpoint, one of the worst things that happened to us as a society was the advent of the three meal day that came with industrialization. The problem with eating three times a day (or fewer for some of us), is that it allows too much time to pass between meals. We let ourselves get too hungry, and then eat to overcome that sensation.

We are just innocently eating the way we were taught. Meanwhile, we are sending signals to our bodies that are not so innocent. We get overly hungry and that tells our body that there is a shortage of food; it’s time to store fat just in case. Then, we get so hungry, we eat more calories in one sitting than our body can process. Our bodies can’t discern how much to feed itself. It just knows that it can’t process it all and dumps everything we’ve eaten to fat storage as well.

The key is to eat five, small meals throughout the day to avoid the valleys and peaks of hunger and fullness (see Live’s sample nutrition plan). By providing enough calories for your metabolism to burn at a steady rate throughout the day, you are telling your body that there will always be enough food for it to burn at a higher rate and feed off of the stored fat in your body as well as the food you consume. When you combine this eating plan with exercise, you will be able to raise your metabolism even further, making you that skinny person who eats all day and never gains a pound.

Leg Muscle Madness

To anyone who has ever picked up a weight – or even thought about it – this four-letter word can take on a variety of different meanings.

For many, legs are the indomitable foundation for which a healthy physique is formed. To a large number of others, the leg day is the one square on the calendar that you painfully dread, the one that you know will require both vigorous effort and agonizing labor.

And yet to many others, legs mean absolutely nothing. Hence, they are woefully neglected.

But nothing looks sillier on a fitness fanatic than a beefy upper torso cemented atop a pair of chicken legs.

So, don’t be that chicken. Take on these painful, gainful exercises that are sure to turn your legs into logs in due time.

Hack Squats: After setting the desired weight, station yourself inside the machine, so your shoulders are flush underneath the pads and your feet are in the middle of the platform. You feet should be at a shoulder length width. Releasing the safety bar, slowly bend your knees, allowing the weight to push your buttocks toward the platform. When your quadriceps are parallel to the floor – or perhaps dip a little lower - immediately reverse the movement, exploding the through an upward motion. Stop just before your knees are locked as you squeeze your legs during the contraction. Try 3-4 sets of 10-12 repetitions.

Leg Presses: Lie down on the machine so that your feet are on the platform. Make sure that your feet are parallel to each other and not pointed inward or outward. Allow the weight to push your knees toward your torso. Stop when your knees form a 90-degree angle. Reverse the movement as you push with your legs, pushing your torso away from the platform. As your legs begin to straighten out, stop just short of your knees being locked. Slowly let the weight bring your buttocks down into the starting position. Try 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps.

Leg Extensions: Sitting on the bench, clasp your ankles underneath the pads, gripping the side handles for balance. Slowly raise the pads, squeezing your quads, and stop the motion when your knees are locked in front of you. Squeeze your quads for a two-count before releasing the tension, allowing your legs to drop to the starting position. Repeat the motion for 3 sets of 12-15 for an incredible burn.

Hamstring Curls: Set yourself face down on the hamstring machine, sliding your heels underneath the pads. Grip on to the handles for balance. Setting a manageable weight, slowly curl your legs upward, so your heels push toward your buttocks. Your feet should be flexed during the movement. Curling upward, the motion should stop when your legs and torso form an angle of roughly 45 degrees. Squeeze your hamstrings during the motion. Slowly release the weight and return to the starting position, as your legs should straighten out. Repeat this movement for 10-12 reps for 3–4 sets.

A leg workout requires optimum intensity, if your intentions are to increase size and strength. Nothing in weight training will wear you out the way a rigorous leg workout will so be sure to provide yourself with ample rest before leg days. Also, legs should be done only once a week to insure time for the torn muscle tissue to recuperate.

Lower Stress While Driving

Have you ever noticed how stressed you get behind the wheel of a car. We get upset when the person in front of us is driving to slow, traffic is backed up, a car cuts us off, or wishing the kids in the back would settle down. As we know stress causes many of the health problems we face today. Just think how a reduction in your stress while driving will make you healthier, especially when you think how many times we drive everyday.

bmwIf you live in an area similar to my parents in South Dakota you may be thinking to yourself what stress while driving. This article is for the rest of the world that has to deal with traffic, road construction, and more learner permit drivers than we know what to do with. The average person spends 1.5 hours a day behind the wheel of a car. Since we are not going to being spending this time exercising we can learn to lower our stress and improve our health while we drive.

The first secret to lower your stress while driving is to identify what cause you stress while behind the wheel. Most people have some daily event that causes their stress levels to rise. For some it is when they are stuck in traffic, getting cut off, changing lanes, or bad weather. These stresses are usually caused by fear that you may not be aware of. For instance when you hit gridlock in traffic is it really the traffic that upsets you or the fact that you are going to be late. You may find though you get upset at the traffic that it is really an underlining issue that causes your stress. The more you understand what causes you stress behind the wheel the better you can make a better choice to distress while driving.

I used to train a psychiatrist who talked about that one of the most common syptoms she would treat was road anxiety. She helped these people by having them eat a candy bar on their way home from work when they were the most stressed. What she didn’t know was that the reason people are so irritable on the way home from work comes a lack of proper eating habits. You body wants 5 small meals a day when it doesn’t get it your body finds unhealthy ways to get energy. In the case of our rush hour drivers, because they typically eat 3 meals or less, they have low blood sugar while driving home which causes them to be quickly go to anxiety and rage. You will find as your blood sugar is stable from eating throughout the day, your stress levels reduce substantially.

Tips for Better Stress Free Driving

1. Start your trip earlier: It will always take longer than you think to get some where, especially if you live in a big city. Most people’s stress rises because they didn’t give themselves enough time reach their destination if things don’t go perfectly. If you start early than you won’t be as bothered when traffic situations happen.

2. Relax while driving: Use the time while driving to unwind and reflect about your day. If you have a lengthy commute home spend the time being alone with yourself instead of racing to get home as fast as you can to only have plenty of stuff do once you get their. You have an opportunity to take a few minutes out of the rat race while you drive home.

3. Be courteous: We all hate it when someone cuts us off though I can’t throw the first stone from never cutting people off myself. A person once told me that how would you feel if that person was rushing a dying person to the hospital and that if they make it on time the person would survive. Every time I see a person driving dangerously I wish them well and hope that their need to drive fast has benefit for them. This works the same during accidents which if you live in Phoenix is an everyday occurrence. What calms me down is I truly hope the people are ok. Though I don’t like traffic slowing down, I don’t people hurt either. I find I lose my anger when I think of the poor people who are having it worse than my delay home.

Overcome the Weight Loss Plateau

You have been to the gym, started a new weight loss program and have seen some pounds drop! Two months later you find yourself stagnant, working harder and losing less weight. Well, you've hit a plateau. A weight loss plateau usually occurs within about a month or two of starting a reduced-calorie diet, and/or fitness program and may reoccur from time to time thereafter. During such a plateau, weight reduction stops completely or slows down to almost nothing. Your body's reaction is to maintain a state of homeostasis, regulating its internal environment to maintain a stable condition. This doesn't mean that you will never lose the weight you want or look the way you would like, but it does show that your body occasionally will provide some resistance. Your body, in response to this new stimulus you have created with your health and fitness program, has adjusted. It is getting used to the increased activity and changes in the calorie intake level and the natural instinct to conserve. Your body has become more efficient and doesn't need to use as many calories as it had in prior workouts.

In terms of food, here are some reasons you may hit the weight loss plateau. A plateau may occur because your body simply wants a "rest" to cope with your calorie-reduction; or your calorie-intake is in balance with your calorie expenditure; or you have reduced your calorie-intake too low. If you find a plateau occurring in your workouts, your routine may be stale and repetitive. Or you could possibly be overtraining and not allowing your body to get sufficient rest.

Here are tips for busting through a plateau and moving forward with getting great results.

Try to be patient. Your weight loss plateau will disappear, I promise. But it typically takes anything between 1-4 weeks.

Rest. If you are experiencing signs of overtraining or seem to be in a rut, take sometime off. Maybe take a few days or even a week. You may find your body rejuvenated and ready to respond to your fitness program. Change your routine. If you have become comfortable in your workouts, change them.

Don't do the same thing every week. Change the exercise sequence by mixing up the order during a workout. Change the variables by shortening your rest time between sets or adding more reps (if you normally do 10 reps, lighten the weight and do 15-20 reps) for a week. Or change the equipment. Move from the treadmill to the stairmaster or move from dumbbells to resistance tubing.

Don't be afraid to increase the intensity. Its easy to become comfortable with our intensity level. Don't be afraid to add more weight, or increase the speed during your cardio workout.

Your body will adapt to the stimulus you place on it. If you find yourself comfortable with your fitness program, you may find a plateau right around the corner. When this happens, take to time to rest and re-evaluate what you are doing, and make some adjustments. You should then be back on the road to great fitness results.

Zylene What is this Amazing Diet Pill

What makes Zylene different?

Zylene is one of the few products on the market that has the correct ratio of herbs and minerals. By having the correct ratio of herbs and minerals, Zylene helps provide an accumulative and synergistic effect to get the maximum fat burning, appetite suppressant and increased energy in one pill. In addition, our product is manufactured by one of the top licensed pharmaceutical labs in the country; therefore, Zylene is of pharmaceutical quality.
What is Zylene and what does it do?

Zylene is a natural dietary supplement. It is made of herbs and minerals and is 100% natural. Most importantly, our proprietary formula contains a time tested proprietary blend of natural ingredients. It helps oxidize fat, increase your energy and it acts as an appetite suppressant to help control your hunger.
How much and when to take Zylene™?

This may be different for everybody. We are all individuals and you may react differently to the dosage (you can take up to 3 capsules per day). Adults take one (1) or two (2) capsules before breakfast and, if needed, one (1) or two (2) capsules at mid-afternoon. Try not to take any later than 5PM; this may interrupt your sleeping. We recommend starting with one capsule of Zylene™ in the morning and gradually increase the dosage to a second in the mid-afternoon. Based on the desired effect, you may want to increase the serving to three capsules daily.
*Note: some people may feel nauseous when taking Zylene before meals. If this happens, simply take the pills during or after meals.
I am on medications, will Zylene affect this? (High blood pressure, antidepressants, and thyroid medications)

We recommend that you ask your doctor if you are currently taking any medications.
We do have clients that take Zylene with their physicians approval and are getting great results. If you need to give your doctor a list of ingredients.
Will I gain the weight back when I stop taking Zylene?

Everyone’s body acts differently when stopping a weight loss program. We encourage everyone to eat a healthy diet and exercise when taking or concluding any weight loss regimen.
What are the ingredients in Zylene?

For a list of Zylene ingredients, please click on the ingredients tab.
How much weight can someone expect to lose?

There is not a precise scientific answer to this question. It is generally recommended that a healthy weight loss result in only losing 1 to 2 pounds per week, as health and safety risks may occur with larger increments of weight loss. The amount of weight loss will be affected by many factors including, but not limited to: program compliance; amount of dosages; individual body composition; type and quantity of food consumed; level of physical activity; and even personal commitment.
Should vitamins and minerals be taken with Zylene?

Yes, absolutely. We strongly recommend that you take a good multi-vitamin such as Nutravex and or a multi-mineral such as Biozyte whether you are using Zylene or not. It is almost always good practice to take a good multi nutirient.
How many capsules are in each bottle of Zylene?

There are 62 capsules in a bottle. We recommend taking one (1) to two (2) pills per day and gradually stepping up your requirements should you desire. This way, the bottle will be a one month supply. For the average person, this allows a 1-month supply to get excellent results. Some people will require more tablets to get the same results.

The Differences Between Synthetic and Natural Nutritional Supplements

As online dieticians, we always establish the first things first: whole foods. The majority of your nutrition should come from sources of whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables, followed by lean protein and healthy fats. Then, to compensate for the deficiencies in our diet, or damage caused by toxins and free radicals in our body, we need to add multivitamins and anti-oxidants. Some supplements may help ensure that you get adequate amounts of essential nutrients or help promote optimal health and performance if you do not consume a variety of foods in proper amounts. Dietary supplements are not intended to treat, diagnose, mitigate, prevent, or cure disease. In some cases, dietary supplements may even have unwanted effects. Then there is this question: Which are better, "synthetic" or food-based "natural" dietary supplements? The proper nutritional program is essential to an effective online diet plan.

As with most research, both sides are supported and rebutted. Currently, the definition of "natural" in foods and dietary supplements has not been established by the government. Therefore, the interpretation can vary greatly. There is a common misconception that "natural" vitamins and minerals are extracted from plants in their pure form and as such are superior to "synthetic" vitamins and minerals, which are made in a laboratory. This can be misleading because it is not possible to extract pure vitamins from plants without considerable amounts of chemical processing. Also, the biological activity of a compound has nothing to do with its source, but is determined by its chemical structure. So really, whether the chemical originates from a leafy plant or a test tube, it is the same compound.

Some vitamin and antioxidant compounds can be efficiently synthesized in factories to produce products that are identical in chemical form to those found in nature and that are pure and fully safe. Some synthetic vitamins are preferentially absorbed over food sources and vice versa.

Folic Acid, for example, is preferentially absorbed and utilized over natural food folates that must go through several conversion processes to be utilized as folic acid.

Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, exists in eight different forms. Each form has its own biological activity, which is the measure of potency or functional use in the body. Alpha-tocopherol is the name of the most active from of vitamin E in humans. It is also a powerful biological antioxidant. Vitamin E in supplements is usually sold as alpha-tocopheryl acetate, a form that protects its ability to function as an antioxidant, and is sometimes derived from soy. The synthetic form is labeled "D, L" while the natural from is labeled "D." The synthetic form is only half as active as the natural form.

There are no known differences in the biological activity of natural and synthetic L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C). As reported by the Linus Pauling Institute, a study in 68 male nonsmokers found that ascorbic acid consumed as cooked broccoli, orange juice, orange slices, and synthetic ascorbic acid tablets are equally bioavailable, as measured by plasma ascorbic acid.

Most important: since the FDA doesn't regulate nutritional supplements, look for ones that offer purity, safety, effectiveness, bioavailability, and whether natural or synthetic, ones that are best absorbed and utilized by the body. Such standards may be upheld when a product has a GMP (good manufacturing practice) seal on it, is potency guaranteed and may also be reviewed by the following organizations:

How to Achieve Ripped and Cut Arms - Biceps and Triceps

There is nothing better than having big guns. Our arms the most seen part of our body, and the one thing secret or openly every weight lifter would like are those big, ripped, biceps and triceps that fill out the sleeves to our shirts. A nice horse shoe would look great as you flex your triceps muscles. So, how do we get ripped huge arms? Though most people want great looking arms, they lack the understanding of how to train them effectively.

Three things are very important to understand in how to build ripped huge arms. The first is that your biceps and triceps are considered small muscle groups. The second is the biceps are used in some facet in all pulling motions, and third that triceps are taxed in all pressing or pushing movements. It is important to understand how you are stimulating your biceps and triceps before you even get to isolated bicep and triceps exercises.

Because your biceps and triceps are a small muscle group and used in all upper body movements they need less direct isolation than people think. How many people have you seen who complain about the size of their arms and are doing endless bicep curls and triceps pressdowns.

One of the biggest pressing movements the bench press engages the triceps throughout the entire movement. It is the triceps that often fatigue before the chest muscles ever give out. When you look at the weight and stimulus of a bench press as compared to a triceps extension, you can see overwhelming load stimulating your triceps with a bench press.

Serious ripped arms comes from consistent intense effort in big back and chest movements. Muscle mass is a total sum gain and the bigger the weight and movement the bigger and more ripped the entire body gets. You will get a more ripped and defined triceps focusing on big chest movements than ever doing tons of triceps isolation movements. The best part is you will get a better chest as well.

Important for developing defined muscles is the fatigue factor. Often by the time you get to isolation exercises like curls and extensions, your biceps and triceps are already fatigued and don't have very much force output. We then by performing extra exercises on our smaller muscle groups send our triceps and biceps into overtraining which decreases performance of all strength training exercises.

Don't forget about your diet plan. If you are going to train hard you need to refuel your body for recovery and growth. That means eating carbohydrates as well. The #1 issue in most muscle development diets is too much protein and not enough carbs. For most weight lifters it isn't hard to get their protein shakes in. The problem lies with the fact that your entire strength workout requires 100% carbs for energy. If you don't have the complex carbohydrates stored in your muscle cells you lack the energy need to train at your max. You will always be coming up short with your results.

One more thing about diet, taking an Arginine supplement or Nitric Oxide supplement will support you in achieving larger arms. L-arginine is converted in nitric oxide (NO, NOX) in the body so many products use either Arginine or NO interchangeably. There is some debate to whether NO gives your muscles a pump look, which some swear by and others don't see the instant difference. What isn't a debate that Arginine is the amino acid that supports optimal oxygen levels in your blood stream. More oxygen means more energy for more intense workouts which leads to bigger arms, and more oxygen means greater removal of harmful toxins that destroy your muscle cells. Whether it gives you a pump or not taking a nitric oxide booster will give your muscles and workouts a needed kick.

Tips to Achieve Ripped Muscles

The challenge has always been for people not just to lose a few pounds, but how do I get ripped muscles and abs. We have all been to the gym and think we look better though the belly still doesn't look the way we want. So instead of making it overwhelming, if you stick to some basic principles it may be the fast track for you to a ripped body. Most people inherently are doing typically one or two destructive simple things everyday that they are not aware of that keeps them from their goals.

1. 5 Small Meals – You may have heard that eating throughout the day is important though do you do it. Eating every 2-3 hours trains your body to burn fat as its major source of energy. Also, 5 small meals shuts off your body from storing fat into your fat cells. If you are not eating every 2-3 hours than every day you are doing something that stores fat and burns away muscle tissue. We know where most people store fat which is their belly or thighs. Meal replacement shakes are bars are perfect quick choices to help get a good meal with our stressful and hurried lives. Make sure your supplement has carbs for energy as protein only bars don't have the energy your body needs to keep burning fat.

2. Drink water and water – Yah, yah, I have heard that before. Though most people know they are supposed to drink water 6-8 glasses a day, the reality is people still don't do it. Making sure you get your water is an essential key to allowing your body to perform optimally. Without adequate water intake you have no chance to get a ripped lean body. If you take products like creatine you need more water as creatine absorbs water into your muscle cells. Water is need for all physiological process including your metabolism to function properly and to remove harmful toxins that damage your muscle cells out of your body.

3. Eat after 6pm – Most people think that they shouldn't eat after 6 pm or don't eat before going to bed. You want to eat as mentioned before every 2-3 hours. If you eat dinner at 6 pm and are up to 10 pm than you want another small snack at around 9 pm. People who starve themselves by not eating after 6 pm burn muscle tissue away all night. Your body needs energy; if you give your body energy in small portions throughout the day your body will reward you with a lean, mean, fat burning machine. Your body doesn't care about the time of day. Also, most people say don't eat a large meal before going to bed it is the large part that is the problem not the meal.

4. You do have do Cardio – Most people who want to rip up typically only exercise with strength training. To develop big muscles you do need to focus on strength training. To support ripping up though, you need to be able to shed extra fat off your body. Interval cardio training is considered one of the most effective ways to raise your metabolism and burn fat. People after doing an interval workout burn more fat during the entire day than any other form of cardio exercise. Interval workouts are short durations of high intensity followed by short durations of low intensity, and then repeated. Proper cardio training is best done with a heart rate monitor and having specific heart rate zones designed for your physiology.

5. Carbs and Protein – Most people attempting to rip up over do their protein intake. You can feel the extra protein going through you because extra gas or issues with your stools. Your body does need protein to rebuild muscle tissue and is essential in each on of your 5 small meals to get lean proteins into your diet. Most people cut carbs because they see the pounds on the scale drop when they do. Carbs absorb water and when you cut carbs your weight loss is coming from water not fat. During strength training your only source of energy is carbohydrates. If you are cutting carbs out of your diet or reducing them to low levels you will never have the energy to train at your max and develop the muscle mass size you want. You want at least 50-55% of your calories coming from complex carbs. As you get more ripped you increase total amount of all carbs, fats, and proteins, not just add more protein.

6. Antioxidants – The harder you train the most energy you produce. Energy or calorie production creates by-products that are toxic if left in the body. Especially, with people who train often and intensely they do not get adequate amounts of antioxidants to remove the harmful metabolic wastes. Metabolic wastes or free radicals left in the body do muscle cell damage and prevent you from developing lean muscle tissue from your hard work. Add a multivitamin with antioxidants or I recommend Meridium XN which is the most powerful antioxidant on the market.

The last thing for one more tip is get your sleep. All your body's adaptations and results occurs while you are sleeping. If today you had the world's greatest diet and fitness program and then got 5 hours of sleep you pretty much wasted al that effort. It is also important to get up the same time everyday including weekends.

Climb Past Your Bench Press Plateau for a Huge Bench

Has your bench press been stuck at a plateau? The bench press is the favorite chest exercise of every person looking to add bulk to there chest can be the biggest disappointment for people. Most people do the same routine over and over again, though it once worked now no results for all the time spent in the gym. List below are tips that you can implement in your next workout to start building a bigger bench and get you out of your rut.

The first technique to getting out of your bench press plateau is to pause at the bottom. Most people got down and up so fast that they use more momentum than muscular strength to press the weight. So, to develop better strength we are going to over pause to ensure optimal muscle fiber recruitment.

It is best to have a spotter who you trust that can help lift the weight off if you don't make it up. Also, have the spotter count to two for you once the bar stops moving as you don't want to be relaxing or screwing up your breathing to count. Once your partner says two explode with all your might for one full rep. Complete as many reps as possible though if you can do more than 6 reps add more weight.

As you continue to train even beyond these tips it is important to train using all three techniques of pausing at your chest. The three are the touch and go that most do, a slight pause at the bottom and then press, and a complete 2-3 second pause at the bottom before pressing the weight up. Each different method is going to challenge your muscle fibers in different ways with different levels of weight. One legitimate rep with less weight does more for muscle development and strength than a rep of heavier weight that you bounce off your chest to impress your friends with how much you can lift.

Have to train the triceps

You don't get a big bench without strong triceps. The bench press is not just a pectoral muscle exercise. Most people use triceps extensions or pressdowns which can develop strong triceps muscles though it doesn't always help with what the triceps need to do in a bench press. The best exercises you can do to train your triceps is to do any kind of close grip pressing motion from close-grip bench or incline bench and close grip push ups. Also, use a variety of dumbbells, barbells, and bodyweight exercises. The important factor is to train your triceps in the motions they need to gain strength in to get a bigger bench press.

Don't forget about your shoulders

The common exercises for shoulders are presses and lateral raises of some kind. The important part of the shoulder for bench press is the anterior deltoid. Add front raises to your routine to strengthen up the front part of your shoulder. Make sure to stand still and use only your shoulder muscles to raise the bar, dumbbells, or plate. I see too many people arching their backs and using momentum to lift the weight. Pure strength and muscle development comes from proper technique more than total weight if momentum is used.

Your back is important too

It most because that we don't see it in front of us because people are way more developed in the chest than the back. A big reason your bench may not be going up is that your antagonist muscles in the back are not strong enough to support the movement from your over developed chest. The only way to build a big bench is to build a big back. If you forget about your back or don't put the same time and effort in your bench will always limit out well short of your potential.

The last thing on your bench press is your legs and core. Your legs are still needed on during a bench exercise to stabilize the weight. If you didn't need your legs to have a big bench than you would be able to lift the same weight with your legs on the floor as you do if you put your feet on the bench and take them away. A big bench is about total body strength, if you focus only on the bench so results will always suffer.

Bodybuilding Tips - Back to the Muscle Buidling Basics

Have you been struggling to achieve your bodybuilding and muscle mass goals? Sometimes getting back to the basics is the key to overcoming your training plateau. Often as we look for the next best thing, we get away from tried and true keys that always work for being successful.

Muscle Mass Bodybuilding Tips

Set Realistic Goals: Too often we set goals that we can't reach or at least in the time frame we have given ourselves. When you set realistic goals it gives you motivation as you complete them, and you can always set more goals to achieve more as you continue. Don't burn yourself out by unrealistic goals. More than just a program: Most people have a program they are following. If you don't stop know and find one to follow. Also, if you have been following the same basic program for a long time find a new one that will give your body a new stimulus. Important to make sure you train your entire body that leaving smaller muscles out only causes a lack in overall results.

With your program, set up from the start how many days a week, how much time per workout, and does that fit into your schedule and the program you have chosen. I see more people stressed because the time they have allocated doesn't support the program they have picked. You have to be committed: I personal feeling is that people quit one step from their results changing. This kind of comes back to realistic goals. Every week and every month isn't going to be the greatest mass building month of your life especially if you are serious and have made this a lifestyle. I believe it is those with faith and what we do on our bad weeks and bad months that make a difference.

Enjoy it: Sometimes we can get so rapped up in the results that we forget to enjoy the daily workouts and the good tasting protein shakes. Bodybuilding is a lifestyle so I find the more you enjoy all the small aspects the better your results are. A positive attitude goes a long way.

Create a flow: Creating a successful training habit during your workout keeps you in the right mind set to get the most out of every set. There is no sense spending all the time training only to go through the motions.

The more you stay in the moment of your training program the greater your results. Bodybuilding is about a lifestyle more than just a 90 minute muscle building workout. I believe the details matter, and the difference in people's results doing the same workouts and same supplements is the little consistent details.

How to Lose Weight Like the Competitors in Fat March and Biggest Loser

For many seeing shows like Fat March of the Biggest Loser can be an inspiration to start their own weight loss program. The problem lies in once you are excited to start now what. It can be hard for the average watcher to understand what is important and what achieves results from watching the show. It is easy to say eat well and exercise on a regular basis though what does that really mean. Losing weight doesn't have to be overwhelming if you understand the basic principles from the shows and apply them to your lifestyle.

The first biggest change for most people's diets which is vital is eating 5 small meals. The personal trainers talked about in Fat March about how until people create the habit of eating throughout the day nothing else matters. Eating small meals trains your body to burn fat and shuts off your body's ability to store fat.

In Fat March we got an up close and personal experience of what happens when you don't eat five small meals. One of the fat marchers took all his food and ate it all at once. This spiked his blood sugar which then your body stores the food as fat. Once your body stores the food as fat you get low blood sugar which is the crashing that most people feel around 3 pm from too much food at lunch. During Fat March because the competitor was doing a ton of walking he passed out from too low blood sugar and had to go to the hospital. Most people don't understand how negative not eating 5 small meals is because they don't have as serious instant consequences because they are sitting at their desk working when their blood sugar drops.

Until you start eating 5 small meals your body will be in a constant roller coaster of eating too much and storing fat into your fat cells. The good thing is that if today you eat 5 small meals you body will today start to burn more energy and go in the right dirction.

So what do I want in my 5 small meals?

The Biggest Loser show does a good job of showing cooking for good healthy meals. The goal of each meal is to get complex carbs for energy, lean protein to rebuild muscle tissue, and fruits or vegetables for nutritional value. The size is relative to your metabolism, as you get a faster metabolism your portion will increase not decrease which is why starving to lose weight doesn't work. For most Americans take your lunch cut it in half and eat the other half 3 hours later.

Yes you do need to eat carbs. Carbohydrates are your major source of energy from food. When you don't eat carbs even if you eat protein your body will go into a starvation response and store fat and burn muscle for energy. Complex carbs are stored in the muscles cells and are rice, pasta, grains, and potatoes.

One reason many fad diets cut carbs is because carbs absorb water. If you cut carbs out of your diet you will lose weight immediately. You may think that is good though your weight loss is only water. Most fad diets do this knowing that people want to see instant results on the scale and cutting carbs can 5-15 pounds of water out with in a week. Because of poor diet habits and too much consumption of caffeine drinks, it is estimated that 75% of Americans are in a constant state of dehydration. Which means for the average American who adds carbs back to their diet they may gain 5 pounds of just water back right away. This healthy and their bodies were unhealthy everyday from a lack of later. If you cut carbs it doesn't matter how much water you drink, you don't have the carbs to absorb it. Low carb diets that drink a lot of water go to the bathroom more often.

Incarnate Palo Alto Labs Increases performance of fast twitch muscle fibers

Ever wondered what makes world class athletes as explosive, massive and dominating as what they are? The simple answer is a much higher ratio of explosive fast twitch muscle fibers to endurance driving slow twitch muscle fibers compared to the average or good athlete. It's a cold hard fact that only 1% of people are born with the genetics to be a pro-athlete or competitive bodybuilder. This elite group was born with a significantly higher percentage of fast twitch muscle fibers, allowing them to get stronger, run faster and put on leaner, denser muscle than you.

Unfortunately we don't have the ability to change our own genetics, but we certainly have the ability to dramatically enhance them and force them to perform at their absolute peak levels. If you've ever felt that you were overmatched by other bodybuilders or athletes because of “better genetics”, then listen up. Now is the time to finally level the playing field. Introducing INCARNATE, the ground-breaking new product designed to radically augment explosive performance, promote extreme muscle growth, strength and endurance while encouraging joint, ligament and muscle recovery through the Introduction of KETOSTERONES and the substantial boosting of Carnosine levels in fast twitch muscle fibers.

Fast twitch muscle fibers are the explosive power plants in our muscles that allow us to pack on ultra dense muscle quickly or outrun another player down the field. The greater the ratio of fast twitch fibers to slow twitch fibers determines how powerful and muscular we can become. The ultimate goal of people with normal genetics must be to train their existing levels of Fast Twitch fibers to their peak levels. The ability to effectively train our muscles is greatly controlled by the Carnosine levels in these muscles. Increased levels of Carnosine in fast twitch muscle fibers act as buffers and aid in dramatically slowing down metabolic acidosis which is the leading cause of muscle fatigue – the killer of the intensity and duration of your workout sessions.

Step 1: Fast-Twitch Muscle Amplifier

Incarnate saturates your existing fast twitch muscle fibers with Carnosine, delaying metabolic acidosis (the biological process behind muscle fatigue) which allows you to train at much higher intensity levels and for much longer duration. Two recent clinical studies have shown that supplementation with the key components of incarnate enables athletes to increase strength by more than 70% compared to creatine while increasing maximum workload and intensity by more than 16%.Another clinical study of Carnosine supplementation versus Creatine supplementation has shown that Carnosine boosting of fast twitch muscle fibers produces 193% greater gains in lean muscle mass compared to creatine alone.

So what does this all mean? In short, use of Incarnate will translate to amazing gains in size, strength and explosive power.

Step 2: Anabolic Activator - Stimulates Joint & Ligament Recovery

Incarnate introduces KETOSTERONES, a potent steroidal like compound, that stimulates anabolic activity and produces increased muscle growth, all the while promoting an ideal environment for ligament, tendons, bone tissue and joint support and repair.

When training with Incarnate you will be able to train longer, push your body through exhaustion and pump out those extra reps that you could never do before. Incarnate will help you break through those infuriating training plateaus by allowing you to blast through fatigue and train longer and harder. So now you’re rapidly building more muscle mass and power, but what about those little connectors that we call joints, tendons and ligaments? Injuries are the black sheep of sports... leaving you on the sideline and keeping you from the iron or playing field for days, even weeks. Unfortunately, muscle fiber grows faster and stronger than the fragile ligaments and tendons that bind muscles together in order to provide us with complex movement. Incarnate employs the introduction of KETOSTERONES into your body to make it a fortress.

KETOSTERONES are potent steroidal like compounds that stimulate anabolic activity, but unlike anabolic steroids, KETOSTERONES actually help to nourish your valuable ligament, tendons, bone tissue and joints. Incarnate promotes an environment for optimal health of joints, ligaments, and cartilage. What makes these KETOSTERONES so special is that they not only promote joint health but they also have anabolic properties that will help drive testosterone levels allowing you pack on lean dense mass. KETOSTERONES are exclusively found in Cissus Quadrangularis and Incarnate use an extremely potent version standardized to 20% KETOSTERONES.

With Incarnate those aches and pains you feel in your muscle and joints will be a thing of the past. Now you can train harder than ever and have the back up you need. Pack on pounds and pounds of lean dense muscle mass and never worry again about the pain that follows those sweat drenched work outs because Incarnate has your back.

Once you train with Incarnate you will never train with another strength and recovery product again!!!

With Incarnate you will experience:

Dramatic Increases in Explosiveness & Raw Strength

Significant Lean Muscle Gains

Increased Intensity & Capacity During Workouts

Stronger, Healthier Joints & Ligaments

Substantially Decreased Muscle Fatigue

Cold Fusion EX LG Sciences Review

Cold Fusion EX increases strength, stamina and size. We do this by combining a unique ratio of ingredients that are proven in the scientific studies to perform a unique function. These combined are why LG Sciences Cold Fusion is up to SIX times better than standard creatine. This article is heavy on the science, but rest assured that this means that you are getting the best quality product with the heavy science to back it up. Seth (my scientist) wrote the technical stuff, I will translate for us “less science minded”

Creatine Ethyl Ester: Creatine ethyl ester is one of the newest forms of creatine. The ethyl ester prevents breakdown in the gut and prolongs the life of creatine in the blood. Combined with creatine monohydrate this results in a one-two punch of fast acting immediate action coupled with the longer duration of creatine ethyl ester. – CEE gives you a longer acting creatine, the right amount works, too much and it tastes like battery acid.

Creatine Monohydrate: The granddaddy of all creatine. Creatine monohydrate has been proven time and time again in the scientific literature to not only increase stamina and strength but also to cause skeletal muscle growth through hypertrophy (expansion of existing muscle cells) and hyperplasia (the creation of new muscle cells from stem cells). Creatine loads water and nutrients into muscle cells resulting in massive pumps and an enhanced anabolic state. – Nothing works like Creatine Monohydrate, it is proven and is shown to increase the forming of new muscle cells. We use 200mesh pharmaceutical grade.

Creatine Malate: Creatine bonded to the tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediate, L-Malate. L-Malate plays a critical role in shuttling NADH, an energy molecule, from the cytoplasm into the mitochondria for energy production. This results in an increase in physical stamina and a reduction in skeletal muscle damage (1). – Malate’s increase the energy production of creatine, giving you increased stamina.

Taurine: Taurine is part of the native defense mechanism against oxidative damage in skeletal muscle (2). Taurine is also a modulator of contractile function in mammalian skeletal muscle and increases the force responses by augmenting calcium accumulation and release (3). – Taurine gives you extra energy and pumps.

L-Leucine: Leucine has been shown to not only reduce the rate of protein degradation in skeletal muscle as a result of resistance training but to also increase protein accumulation and strength (4). – Leucine is the first amino acid used up when you work out. It is proven to be anabolic.

Beta Alanine: Beta Alanine is an amino acid that is a component of carnosine. Stuides have shown that beta alanine supercharges the effects of creatine, resulting in greater lean mass gains and strength increases (5). – Beta Alanine buffers lactic acid and gives you longer workout times and reduces failure.

Aspartic Acid: Aspartic acid plays a major role in the malate-aspartate shuttle and acts to recharge L-Malate. Supplementation with aspartic acid has resulted in increased endurance and decreased lactic acid buildup. Furthermore, studies show decreased rate of glycogen depletion during exercise due to increased utilization of free fatty acids over glycogen (6,7) – Aspartic Acid increases endurance and performance.

Yohimbine HCL: Yohimbine is an alpha-adrenergic antagonist. Supplementation with yohimbine results in augmentation of nitric oxide synthesis and increased vasodilation – which means more blood, water and nutrients delivered to your muscles. – Yohimbine gives you the mental lift in the gym, without the crash of caffeine. It also increases blood flow, making NO work better.

L-Arginine: L-Arginine is THE precursor to nitric oxide (NO) production. Nitric oxide is the major vasodilator in blood vessels. Vasodilation causes blood vessels to open up, allowing more blood to flow. This gives you the massive pumps that you experience when supplementing with arginine. This pump not only looks great but it also helps to build muscle by delivering more nutrients where you need it most. – Arginine is the base for a good NO pump, we prefer a mix of many types to get the maximum benefit.

Arginine AKG: Arginine bound to the tricarboxylic acid intermediate, alpha-ketoglutate. Alpha-ketoglutarate is important for driving the malate-aspartate shuttle and is one of the most important nitrogen transporters. In addition, alpha-ketoglutarate is a precursor to the neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA. – Arginine AKG is a good form of Arginine proven to help build strength and give pumps.

Arginine Orotate: Arginine bound to orotic acid results in a longer duration of action and improved absorption of arginine. – Another form of Arginine that lasts longer in the body.

Mormordica: Momordica is an herbal ingredient that has been used in China for over a thousand years. Momordica upregulates the expression of GLUT-4, the primary glucose transporter in skeletal muscle. This results in increased glucose and protein transport into muscle. This increased flow of nutrients also loads creatine and water into the muscle (8,9). – This stuff is really cool, it shuttles all the other stuff into the muscle. Unlike inferior products (like ALA) it pushes both amino acids and sugar into the muscle (all the above stuff are amino acids, which is why Cold Fusion works better than anything else).

Pomegranate Powder: Pomegranate juice contains potent antioxidants that protect nitric oxide (NO) from oxidative destruction. This results in an increase in the activity of NO as well as the duration of action (10). – Pomegranate is good for you in many ways, but it is shown to increase your pumps by extending the life of NO.

Spirulina: Spirulina has been shown to decrease oxidative damage in skeletal muscle but it also has another interesting effect. Spirulina augments the vasodilating effect of nitric oxide while at the same time, decreasing vasoconstriction by reducing the synthesis and release of vasoconstricting eicosanoids (11). – Spirulina is known as an energy food that increases pumps and reduces muscular fatigue.

This unique combination of ingredients will give you the biggest pumps during your workouts while at the same time producing the optimal anabolic state. Hopefully, our dual explanations give you science guys and normal dudes a chance to see why Cold Fusion EX is so great. Oh, you have to taste it! It is freaking amazing.

Creatine : Still the best Workout Supplement for strength, power, size and recovery

In the past decade, the sports and fitness world has seen many performance enhancing supplements arrive on the scene as the quest for maximum possible performance from the human body continues. Since I became a personal trainer 17 years ago I have personally seen and used dozens of different supplements, as much out of curiosity as to "what's new" as a desire to improve my performance and physique. From energy drinks to prohormones to protein supplements to nighttime recovery, I have experimented with many, and found a lot that I have chosen to keep using. Above all of them, however, the one constant that has ALWAYS been present since the very first time that I used it is creatine. It has proven to be one of the effective and safe supplements available when used properly. I always feel stronger and recover quicker using creatine when I participate in any kind of training that requires strength or quick bursts of anaerobic power. Any workout I do in the weight room or when rock climbing feels incredibly enhanced when I supplement with creatine, and I have no problem as an online personal trainer recommending this product to healthy individuals who can safely take the recommended dosages supplied by the manufacturers. I always say to people, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are a healthy individual who is cleared medically to participate in the high intensity training made possible by safe and proper creatine supplementation.

I remember the first time I took creatine back in 1995, and I did a leg press exercise as my first set of the workout. I easily lifted 10% more weight that I had been lifting before that day, and found I could do over 20% more repetitions per set with weights that I had been using. WOW! It was a very strange feeling to have that effect only minutes after taking the product. It was like a wonder pill, in some ways. As someone who loves lifting weights and being strong, it was a huge psychological boost to feel that different so quickly. Creatine has literally been a part of my training regimen ever since that day.

What was going on was that the main ingredient in the creatine supplement, creatine monohydrate, was enhancing my muscles' ability to produce effort before fatiguing. The monohydrate component of creatine monohydrate combines with the most immediate metabolic byproducts of intense muscular effort during exercise, which turns a large percentage of the byproducts right back into usable muscular energy. The muscle is able to lift more weight and fatigues later than without the supplement being present. My experienced increase in performance of 10-20% was right in line with what is the usual benefit.

The initial advantage to being able to lift more weight and do more repetitions is obvious: the body gets a better workout and a better stimulation to improve its performance levels. In addition to this first benefit, creatine also serves to pull more body water volume into the muscle cells, creating a fuller feeling of firmness in the muscle belly, which looks and feels good to the person using it. Muscle recovery is enhanced as well, so not only are the workouts better, the recovery from these workouts is quicker. Performance and cosmetic results are greatly enhanced.

Creatine supplements are always evolving coming onto the market in forms that manufacturers claim improve their results. They are now frequently combined with other performance enhancing ingredients in a single supplement to create amazing feelings of "pump" during a workout. And these latest versions of creatine supplementation are very effective and I have tried most of them. In the end, the actual way the creatine itself is acting upon the body and its effectiveness are largely unchanged from when I used it for the first time. It is a very effective and safe supplement when the manufacturer guidelines for use are followed or it is used in conjunction with a certified personal trainer.

Common Symptoms of Menopause

Many women enter into menopause at different times of their life. Some experience a few of the symptoms while others can have more.

Hot flashes, flushes, night sweats and/or cold flashes, clammy feeling is most likely the most common sensation but, Irregular heart beat, irritability, mood swings, sudden tears, difficulty sleeping, irregular periods; shorter, lighter periods; heavier periods, phantom periods, shorter cycles and longer cycles often occur.

One of the most troubling symptoms is Loss of libido. However it is not limited to a drop in desire but also a dry vagina, crashing fatigue, anxiety, feelings of dread, apprehension, depression, difficulty concentrating, disorientation, mental confusion, memory lapses, incontinence upon sneezing, or laughing.

Women have also report having Itchy, crawly skin aching, sore joints, muscles, breast tenderness, headaches, gastrointestinal distress, indigestion, flatulence, nausea, bloating, increase in allergies weight gain, hair loss, but with an increase in facial hair. Many have experienced dizziness, light-headedness, tingling in the extremities, gum problems, increased bleeding, burning tongue, burning roof of mouth, bad taste in mouth, change in breath odor.

One of the biggest problems of menopause is Osteoporosis (porous bones).

A select few have noticed changes in fingernails: softer, crack or break easier. Tinnitus: ringing in ears, 'whooshing,' buzzing etc. Reason For Symptoms

Hot flashes are due to the hypothalamic response to declining ovarian estrogen production. The declining estrogen state induces hypophysiotropic neurons in the arcuate nucleas of the hypothalamus to release gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in a pulsatile fashion, which in turn stimulates release of luteinizing hormone (LH). Extremely high pulses of LH occur during the period of declining estrogen production. The LH has vasodilatory effects, which leads to flushing. Loss of libido for some women the loss is so great that they actually find sex repulsive, in much the same way as they felt before puberty. What hormones give, loss of hormones can take away. Aching sore joints may include such problems as carpal tunnel syndrome. Depression different from other depression, the inability to cope is overwhelming. There is a feeling of loss of self. Hormone therapy ameliorates the depression dramatically. Weight gain often around the waist and thighs, resulting in 'the disappearing waistline'. Tingling in extremities can also be a symptom of B-12 deficiency, diabetes, alterations in the flexibility of blood vessels, or a depletion of potassium or calcium Tinnitus is one of those physical conditions that seems to manifest in some women at the same time as menopause. It can be associated with health conditions such as hypothyroidism and heart disease, and is a known side-effect of many medications, including aspirin (salicylates) and Prozac.

SOME OF THE SYMPTOMS MAY ALSO BE SIGNS OF THE FOLLOWING: *hypothyroidism *diabetes *depression with another etiology other medical conditions
